It’s time to talk about workplace health as much as workplace safety
Making small changes to how we work, where we work and what we do outside of work can be the difference between a happy and healthy workplace or a dysfunctional and stressed one.
Workplace accidents, injuries and staff absenteeism cost both the employer and employee in many ways so prevention and early intervention is the key.
The introduction of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) which came into effect on 4 April 2016, increases the duty of care on employers to proactively manage their work place to ensure risk of injury and harm to their staff is eliminated or minimised.
Avenues Physio-Fitness have experienced physiotherapists and occupational therapists with expertise in injury prevention and truly understand workplace pressures on the musculoskeletal system. We would relish the opportunity to work with you and your team to help improve workplace fitness and ergonomics to ensure optimum productivity.
Our Services:
Vocational Rehabilitation:
At Avenues Physio-Fitness we collaborate with employees, employers and ACC or third-party insurers to achieve a personalised plan to enable a successful and sustainable return to work. We work with all treating health professionals and rehabilitation networks to identify appropriate duties, working hours and any other modifications for return to work.
Our team takes time to explore work tasks, work environments and potential barriers. We get to know the employee, employer and the organisation through a workplace assessment and initial needs assessment. Our team will provide as required: workplace assessments, manual handling advice and other workplace education, provision and modification of necessary equipment, arrange work trials, deliver functional fitness as well as co-ordinate with case management support. Our team of physiotherapists are ideally suited with our understanding of vocational rehabilitation along with expertise in injury prevention and workplace pressures on the musculoskeletal system. You and your employees will be in good hands.
Ergonomics:
Assessment and optimisation of workplace design and work station set up. Individual ergonomic workstation assessments are important in prevention of pain and workplace discomfort. These have been proven to reduce the incidence of gradual process injuries such as OOS (Occupational Overuse Syndrome) and RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) in the workplace. Our team works closely and collaboratively with workplaces and individuals to mitigate injury risk as well as optimise comfort and productivity. The aim is to assist workplaces and individuals to better understand risks and appropriate self-management strategies to maintain optimal workplace design and ergonomics. This generates sustainable change and leads to a thriving, productive work environment.
Workplace Conditioning
Conditioning is best delivered within the workplace setting to incorporate specificity leading to optimal outcomes as well as enhance accessibility and benefit to all. This includes analysis and consideration of ideal task performance, facilitation of user-friendly injury prevention strategies, assistance to optimise individual and collective physical and functional capacities as well as generation of sustainable habits to maintain positive health and wellness individually and as a wider team.
Group Exercise:
Fitness classes specific to your workplace needs can be arranged. For example – Yoga, Pilates or Strength & Conditioning. These can be organised at our clinic studio at 575 Cameron Road, Tauranga or at a location that is convenient for your staff.
Education:
Customised seminars for small or large groups educating on your specific workplace wellness requirements. Presented by our passionate and experienced physiotherapists. This is a great chance to reflect as a team, consider existing work habits and culture as well as work together to optimise workplace wellness at an individual and collective level. The aim is to identify areas that are working well to continue as well as areas in need of improvement to enhance productivity and staff welfare.
